Panel Discussion on the History of Saudi Currency at Taibah University

Taibah University in Madinah organized yesterday a panel discussion titled “A Critical Reading of the History of Saudi Currency: From Private Collections to Museum Display,” in the presence of the University President, Dr. Nawal bint Mohammed Al-Rasheed. This initiative comes as part of the university’s efforts to enhance the knowledge presence of national history and to open channels of dialogue with specialists and enthusiasts.

The session, presented by Omar bin Ali Al-Bassati, a member of the Saudi Numismatic Society and author of the book “History of Saudi Currency,” covered several topics related to the history of Saudi currency and the transformations it has undergone. It also showcased examples of private collections and highlighted their importance in enriching museum content, contributing to raising cultural awareness among attendees.

The organization of this session reflects Taibah University’s commitment to fostering cultural engagement and promoting knowledge, in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 in developing the cultural sector and strengthening national identity.
