Taibah University develops an innovative technology to monitor the safety of consumer goods during transportation and storage.

A research team at Taibah University in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah has successfully developed an advanced technology in the form of a thermal sensor designed to ensure the quality of stored consumer goods and monitor their safety during storage and transportation processes.

The university explained that the innovation is the result of a joint effort by a research team from its academic staff, led by Dr. Roaa Al-Numan and Dr. Mohammed Essam Haj. The technology works by detecting whether consumer products have been exposed to unsuitable temperatures, as the sensor undergoes a permanent and clearly visible color change when exposed to heat. This allows verification of whether shipments were subjected to improper storage conditions before being received.

The university added that the technology aims to provide several advantages to protect consumers, enhance confidence in product quality in the market, and offer a visual indicator for detecting temperature exposure. It also addresses product spoilage caused by poor thermal storage conditions and provides an accurate, irreversible color response to temperature changes.
