As part of Taibah University’s ongoing efforts to enhance safety and security measures and strengthen preparedness for emergency situations, the College of Pharmacy conducted a comprehensive emergency evacuation drill at the College Building No. (129). The drill was carried out in coordination with the University Security and Public Safety Administration and the Public Safety Unit, with the participation of several relevant university departments and units.
The drill included the activation of the emergency alarm, followed by the organized and rapid evacuation of the building in accordance with approved safety procedures and evacuation guidelines. Faculty members, staff, and students were directed to designated emergency exits and assembly points, while response teams were strategically deployed throughout key areas of the building, including classrooms, administrative offices, corridors, parking areas, and elevators.
The drill provided an opportunity to assess the effectiveness of evacuation procedures and the level of compliance with safety instructions, as well as to verify the readiness of emergency exits, alarm systems, and firefighting equipment and ensure the safety of all individuals inside the building.
The evacuation drill achieved positive results, with the entire building successfully evacuated within 3 minutes and 40 seconds, and no injuries were reported among students, faculty members, or staff. Participants also demonstrated a high level of compliance with safety instructions and effective cooperation with the security and safety teams and participating departments.
The drill highlighted the importance of continuously assessing the readiness of alarm systems and emergency exits, while maintaining ongoing awareness and training programs on emergency procedures and evacuation plans. These efforts contribute to providing a safe and secure educational environment for all College of Pharmacy students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
