The Rector of Taibah University Meets its Affiliates to Identify “ Pledge”
Academic and Constructional Projects and Full Electronic Transformation in “Pledge”
His Excellency the Rector of Taibah University Dr. Adnan Al Mazrooa held today morning Monday12/6/1434 A. H. an enlightening meeting of the university’s project “Pledge” at the Lectures Hall at the University, highlighting the most salient axes of the project and its aspirations and what it comprehends of hopes and ambitions leading Taibah the City and Taibah the University to be a lighthouse of knowledge, science, and wisdom. Also, His Excellency revealed in the meeting a number of future projects and the performance level in the existing projects with the “ Pledge” project while His Excellency stressed that the project is not related to one individual, but it is for all. Then, he said the “ Pledge” is a noble cooperative idea to promote and upgrade the University. The project has been launched on 1/5/1434 A.H. to coincide with the launch of Al Madinah Al Munawwarah: A Capital of Islamic Culture 2013 A.D. The “Pledge” is a dream. However, all achievements starts with dreams and come true if they are planned and executed well.
On the project axes , His Excellency said: The project has three main axes including the educational process, developing community, and scientific research .The first axis is generally concerned with serious development and modernization in the educational process by developing its four elements; student, academic curricula, Faculty Members, and university environment, while the second axis is concerned with participation in developmental programs existed in community through holding partnerships with the institutions of civil society which are concerned with developing society with focusing on disseminating the culture of self-employment, entrepreneurship, and leadership to strengthen its role in sustaining and sponsoring innovative ideas and providing oriented programs to prepare youth to accept and practice dialogue and dealing with others.
With regard to the project’s third axis, His Excellency clarified that it targets paying attention to the standards of scientific research and its elements to attain support to the educational process at the University on one side and developing the community on the other side and stressing the purpose of scientific research as a tool to achieve scientific promotion for the Faculty Members. The project focuses in scientific research on the surrounding environment to accomplish goals with diverse ends, while His Excellency pointed out that He is happy because of the attainments of Taibah University’s research magazines as they were internationally classified and achieved advanced positions al the level of the Kingdom up till now.
His Excellency added that the Pledge project has a plan for 4 years divided into five phases, and each phase has a tremendous and tangible effect. Hence, the first phase which already started with the project launch continues for 1000 days with 960 remaining days. As for the second phase, it will continue for 5 years which is the requisite period to graduate the first class of students in the aftermath of the first phase of Pledge, while the third phase continues for seven years which is the necessary period for this class to obtain PhD degree , while the fourth and fifth phases include the project’s remaining period.
Regarding outputs of the first phase, His Excellency said that it includes the increase of skills and values dosage in academic programs at the expense of the huge quantity of information and the programs will be compatible with the requirements of the international and national academic and professional accreditation bodies, completing the project of developing and assessing the performance of Faculty Members, completing the project of developing the preparatory year, Community Colleges, and comprehensive transformation of electronic transactions. Besides, the outputs includes obtaining at least 40 % of programming accreditation by the Bachelor programs and achieving an increase of 50 % of current researches qualitatively and quantitatively , in addition to providing the minimum limit of the attractive academic environment requirements and stressing the concept of students firstly as a culture and practice through activating student councils and students participation in some administrative activities at the university, and identifying and protecting students’ rights.
Through the meeting, His Excellency revealed the university’s good offices to enable and develop the female students section at the university through constructional projects, academic programs, and increasing the academic cadres number in the future, pointing out that the female students form nearly two thirds of the university. Accordingly, we seek to realize a balance by representing the women elements in all councils, committees, and granting them wider powers in managing the university.
On the University’s adopted existing or new constructional projects, His Excellency revealed that the university, within the scientific research axis in the Pledge project, is in the process of establishing a center for palm trees and dates researches, in addition to a number of future projects for the university which have been adopted and will be subsequently announced, adding that 6 new educational buildings will be received with the beginning of new year as a new and significant addition t the university’ s new buildings. In addition, His Excellency presented for the attendees the scheme of the medical city project where he presented an interactive illustration of the medical city content, pointing out that the project duration is 3 years and the project has been awarded to one of the specialized companies. His Excellency clarified that a number of the academic buildings projects scheduled within the plan and its awarding is awaited such as the female students’ Closed Sporting Gym and other academic and service projects
Subsequently, the Faculty Member at the University His Eminence Sheikh Saleh Bin Awad Al Maghamesy delivered a speech, saying “ The Pledge deserves from us all exerting efforts, and nothing demolish any building like oppression. To allow all people to give and present what they have of potentials, they have to feel belonging. So, we all have to be just in all aspects of our university environment to be a just environment, and this is for all the affiliates of the university.
It is mentioned that the meeting witnessed the attendance of a large number of the university affiliates including academicians, executives, and students. Also, the meeting has been aired to the female students section at the university and the Academic Complex of female students at As Salam. At the end of the meeting, the attendees provided their interventions and proposals on the project.
