His Excellency Rector of Taibah University Dr. Adnan Bin Abdullah Al Mazrooa launched the two sites of Taibah Magazine for Sciences and Taibah University Magazine for Medical Sciences yesterday Monday 26/6/1434 A.H. through the ceremony of Taibah University Award for Research Excellence organized by the Scientific Research Deanship at Taibah University and held at the Ceremonies Hall at the University.
During the launching, His Excellency said that this launching and the prize come on a distinct day which is the memorial day of allegiance to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, May Allah Save Him who is the first man of scientific research in the Kingdom by His generous support for scientific researches. Establishing the largest specialized University in scientific research is the most evident proof of his care and attention (May Allah Support Him) of scientific research, and we in Taibah educational University pay much importance and concern to scientific research.
The festival which started with a lecture by Dr. Ahmad Bin Ali Al Gereid, the Dean of Scientific Research at Taibah University entitled Publishing in Judged and Classified Periodicals where he talked in his lecture on the international publication volume and its measurement and the difference between it and the volume of impact of published researches and its measurements. Also, Dr. Gereid illustrated by graphs the location of Arab countries in general and Saudi in particular in terms of international publication, indicating that many of the Saudi University should approach publication levels in advanced countries. Also, Dr. Gereid provided an overview of the publication standards of international standards and researchers standards.
Then, Dr. Mustafa Bin Yusuf Al Naggar, the editorial board member of Taibah University magazine of Sciences gave a lecture, highlighting Taibah University ’s magazine of Sciences in which he illustrated for the attendees through presentation slides the items and elements of Taibah University scientific magazine and how to take advantage of each element. This has been followed by a lecture by Dr. Khalid Bin Ibrahim Khoush Hal, the editor-in-chief of Taibah University Magazine of Medical Sciences, who started his lecture with an account of the history of medical magazines international, then, he tackled the history of Taibah University Magazine for Medical Sciences, and Dr. Khoush Hal talked about the magazine, its emergence, divisions, and the most significant developments covered in the magazine since its foundation. Then, he discussed the advantages of the magazines and arbitration mechanisms, indicating that the only Arab magazine in medical sciences which allocated a division for the contribution of students. Also, he tackled the articles quotas at the magazine with its miscellaneous specialties. On the content of the magazine, he said: the majority of scientific papers were received from academicians at universities with a ratio of 84%, while the contribution ratio of medical specialists from outside universities formed 13% and students contributed with 13%,and students with 3%.
Subsequently, Dr. Hussein Abdul Raouf Al Azamy gave a lecture entitled “ Standards of Evaluating Scientific Research in Britain”. He is one of the international arbitrators where he arbitrated in a number of international researches and in his lecture, Dr. Al Azamy discussed the standards of evaluating scientific researches in Britain and the difference between it and other countries, pointing out that the research standards in Britain are unified irrespective of the research field. Then, he outlined the mechanism of classifying researches in Britain, tackling what is known as the mechanism of evaluating researches by stars in Britain, pinpointing that the researches in Britain start from one star to four stars, reviewing the standards of each star in evaluating researches.
Then, Dr. Sulaiman Bin Yusuf Garaya, the co-editor in Taibah University Magazine of Medical Sciences and the author of more than 60 published scientific research gave a lecture entitled “ Arbitration (Peers Reviewing) and the Measurement and Analysis of the Magazine” in which he outlined the journey of research paper in the scientific magazine since its receipt passing by the procedures of the magazine till the final decision. Also, clarified the period necessary to complete each one of the journey’s phases. Besides, according his experience, he clarified the best administrative methods to abridge the scientific paper journey in the procedures of approval and publication in scientific research magazines. Also, he expounded the most common administrative errors in scientific papers, providing examples and the way to evade these errors.
Prof.Dr. Yaser Abdul Razeq Belelah, the Vice-Rector of Taibah University for Higher Studies and Scientific Research delivered a speech, saying that all realize the importance of scientific research and the spent amount by countries on scientific research and there are hundreds of titles in need of being studied. If we come to researchers, the outstanding scientists are the ones who conduct researches, and Taibah University thank Good teems with them. As for Taibah University Award for Research Excellence, it is an opportunity to highlight the distinct in all the University’s sectors, and it presents to them a financial reward. Also, it is an incentive for more excellence by the researches. At the conclusion of his speech, Dr. Belelah thanked His Excellency the Rector of University for His unlimited moral and material support for scientific research.
Then, the Scientific Research Dean Dr. Ahmad Bin Ali Al Gereid delivered a speech, outlining that scientific research is deemed as one of the Saudi Community’s pillars, and it is the third axis of the axes of the Pledge Project sought to be realized by Taibah University, and scientific research remains limited unless its outcomes are reflected on society. Also, Dr. Al Gereid in his speech revealed that the fields of Chemistry and Physics are regarded as the fields containing more research papers in the magazine of Taibah University.
Subsequently, Dr. Eman Asery, the Vice- Dean of Scientific Research Deanship delivered a speech, stating that scientific research is regarded as one of the most important indicators of the promotion of countries scientifically, and through ten years, the budget of scientific research at Taibah University lept from half a million of Riyals ten years ago to ten millions Riyals, outlining the importance of scientific research and many statistics refer to the growth of scientific research at Taibah University. Thereupon, I thank all who contributed in Taibah University with all these achievements.
At the end of the ceremony, His Excellency Rector of University Dr. Adnan Al Mazrooa honored the researchers who won the award in its seven branches numbering 80 female and male winners.
