The Taibah University Research Fellowship for Impact and Innovation is a voluntary research program, launched as part of the university's Strategic Research Identity initiative. It reflects Taibah's push to grow into a serious research hub that actually makes a difference, and to take a stronger role in shaping Saudi Arabia's research and innovation landscape.

The program brings in strong Saudi and resident researchers and puts their work toward national priorities. It is grounded in the idea that good research should connect directly to real problems and, by doing so, help move Vision 2030 forward in areas such as health, energy, industry, AI, genetic sciences, and other fields, both applied and foundational

Objectives

  1. Recruit top researchers across key fields. 
  2. Provide local researchers with direct, hands-on training under faculty supervision. 
  3. Enhance research and innovation output through the university's research centers. 
  4. Develop academic and research networks with researchers and scientific teams. 
  5. Support participants in advancing their scientific and professional experience. 
  6. Award a certified completion certificate upon finishing the selected track.
  7. Who Can Apply
  • The program is for PhD holders.
  • All fields are welcome. Open to Saudi nationals and residents, full-time or part-time.

Third: Fellowship Types

  1. Postdoctoral Research Fellowship

A 12 to 24-month fellowship for PhD holders, based in one of the university's specialized research centers. Fellows work on live strategic projects, contribute to     publications that carry real weight, mentor graduate students, and pass on research know-how to the local environment.

What's included:

  • Direct supervision from researchers at the host center.
  • Full access to labs and advanced research equipment.
  • A spot on an active research project.
  • A certificate documenting your time in the fellowship.

What's expected:

  • Support the lead researcher or research group, depending on what the project needs.
  • Show up during official working hours.
  • Help with training students and technicians.
  • Publish at least one peer-reviewed paper, or register an intellectual property.
  • Submit a progress report every six months, and a final report at the end.
  • Follow all of Taibah University's rules, policies, and procedures.

2. Visiting Researcher Fellowship

A short-term option for PhD holders who want to spend time at Taibah University, for at least a month, with flexible scheduling. Visiting researchers work alongside university teams, attend scientific events such as talks, seminars, and workshops, and help open doors to new research partnerships and knowledge sharing.

What's included:

  • Access to the university's facilities and labs.
  • A seat at research seminars and workshops.
  • Day-to-day logistical support from the host center.
  • A fellowship certificate for stays of six months or more.

What's expected:

  • Take part in at least one scientific activity, a talk, workshop, or seminar.
  • Hand in a summary or short research report before you leave.
  • Team up with university researchers on at least one joint activity or project.

Track 1: Research Matching

For those who want to gain experience inside one of the university's research centers, without having a specific project lined up.

Track 2: Open Research Opportunities

Browse the research openings posted on the program's official platform and apply to the one that fits.

Track 3: Research Group Membership

For those who want to join a research group tied to one of the university's centers.

Track 4: Direct Collaboration

Work directly with a faculty member on research tasks you both agree on.

You will need to attach:

  • A preliminary approval letter from the host center or faculty member, if you have one.
  • A copy of your degree certificate.
  • Your CV, with a list of published work if applicable.
  • The Research Administration reviews your application and coordinates with the host center.
  • You'll then receive an official response with the final decision.

Fifth: How Decisions Are Made

In all tracks, the supervising faculty member makes the final call, based on whether the applicant is a good fit for the project. There is no formal review committee involved. What matters most is whether your background and skills line up with what the research actually needs.
