Taibah University in Madinah has registered an innovative industrial design: a controlled, progressive medical adhesive designed to support preparation for cleft lip surgery in children. This adhesive adjusts the tension force according to the treatment plan, thus improving patient readiness before surgery.

The university explained that the design is used in the pre-operative preparation phase for children with cleft lip. It works by gradually bringing the sides of the lip closer together, reducing the width of the incision, and improving the position of the nasal wing, thereby enhancing surgical outcomes.

The design features the ability to gradually control the tension force through predefined levels, ensuring alignment with the treatment plan without the need for personal judgment. It also allows caregivers to easily apply the treatment protocol, minimizing the possibility of errors during home use.

The university emphasized that the design contributes to improving both cosmetic and functional outcomes, enhancing children's pre-operative readiness, and supporting home healthcare solutions. This reflects the application of engineering innovation in developing medical technologies and aligns with the goals of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 to support research and innovation and improve quality of life.
