Course General Description
This course introduces the students to organic compounds'
structure, properties, and reactions relevant to the pharmaceutical
chemistry sciences. The course covers the basic concepts of
bonding and molecular structure and the chemistry of different
functional chemistry groups such as alkanes, alkenes, aromatic
compounds, halides, alcohols, carbonyl compounds, amines, and
carbohydrates. The course also emphasizes the importance of
stereochemistry and isomerism in determining drug molecules'
biological activity and metabolism
