This course introduces the students to the measured thermodynamic properties and other basic concepts such as the first law of thermodynamics applied to an open and closed systems and control volume, forms of energy, thermodynamic cycles and the Carnot cycle, entropy and the second law of thermodynamics, the second law of thermodynamics for closed and open systems, vapor-compression power and refrigeration cycles, the Rankine cycle, and equations of state and intermolecular forces.
