The fundamental concepts of heat and mass transfer courses are applied to the design of unit operation processes and equipment including evaporator systems, membrane devices, cooling towers, drying and humidification of process, materials, and mechanical-physical separation processes. The mechanical-physical separation processes involve separation of solid, liquid, and gases by mechanical means including filtration, sedimentation, centrifugation, cyclone separators, material handling processes and size reduction and screening. In this course the students are also introduced to various related experiments.
