This course introduces the student to the environment of prosthetics and orthotics practice and safety in terms of hand tools, machinery use, electric shock prevention, toxic materials handling, and the use of protective gear. The course covers exercises on the methods of working with different materials used in the manufacture of prostheses and orthoses. These include metals, plaster of Paris, polymers, textiles, and leathers.
