This course will introduce the respiratory therapy students to basic microbiology concepts of the microbial world, with emphasis on structure, function, growth, sterilization, infection control, antimicrobial chemotherapy and common laboratory practices involved with the diagnosis of infectious disease of the respiratory system. Students will learn about normal flora and common pathogens of the respiratory tract.
