Clinical Practice III provides a challenging new phase to clinical practice as the students will have the opportunity to experience critical care management. The advanced respiratory care procedures require the student to develop further their critical thinking skills as well as prepare them mentally, psychologically and emotionally to provide respiratory care to critically ill patients in need of mechanical ventilation and other advanced cardiopulmonary care within the scope of respiratory care. It also provides experience in basic and advanced cardiopulmonary function testing. This course consists of specialty rotation in ICU and PFT lab students will continue to practice the previous therapies as found in RT. Emphasis is placed on mechanical ventilator management, modifications, and troubleshooting. In addition, students will be exposed to different procedures at the PFT lab.
