Classical mechanics is of vital importance to students at university level from all disciplines. This course is highly successful in describing the motions of different objects that are large relative to atoms and move at speeds much slower than the speed of light, such as planets, rockets, and baseballs. In this course, one shall describe the laws of classical mechanics and examine a wide range of phenomena that can be understood with these fundamental ideas at intermediate level of the B. Sc. degree program in physics. Classical mechanics is a presentation of Newtonian mechanics at the intermediate level. Topics include the study of one-dimensional motion, vectors, motion in two dimensions, the laws of motion, circular motion and other applications of Newton’s laws, work and energy, as well as linear momentum and collisions. Mathematical skills were used to support understanding these topics. Students are expected to solve analytical as well as numerical problems related to these topics, and use them to interpret and understand various physics related phenomena.
