PEP course has a flexible framework through which students are expected to be guided by a supervisor (s)and other faculty members to timely conduct the steps of an original research project. Students are expected to use knowledge and skills acquired during previous courses in year 2 and 3 particularly in personal excellence pathway 1 & 2 and evidence-based medicine component of year 2 and 3courses in implementation of their research project. Starting by formation of research teams, they are required to develop research proposals that they will carry out in the field after obtaining ethical approval. After completion of the research project, students are required to communicate the research findings both orally and in a scientifically written report that will be evaluated based on scientific criteria. During the course, students will have control over the research process activities, decide on timely management of different tasks, conduct meetings with the supervisor and as a team with submission of timely meetings' reports. They are required to carry out the field work until completion of the research process and lastly submission of a written report and oral presentation. Academic support through input from an assigned supervisor (s), library staff and IT personnel will be provided. The duration of the course is throughout the whole academic year (semester 1 of year 5 and semester 2 of year 5). The course is extended over semester 1 of year 6 for submission of the written research project report and oral presentation and evaluation.
