This course is designed to introduce essential pharmacologic concepts, critical thinking, and judgment skills so that the student is prepared to provide drug therapy that is safe and appropriate for patients from all populations. Commonly used drugs will be discussed with regard to groups, forms, uses, doses, routes of administration, actions and side effects as well as the nursing considerations. The course illustrates the mathematic calculations of dosage of medication. Common drug administration errors and their effects on clients and nurses will be discussed.
