This course will cover normal and disordered deglutition in the adult population. It is intended to provide the student with an understanding of the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the oral and pharyngeal stages of deglutition, and to familiarize the student with various methods for assessment of the oropharyngeal swallow; and to develop the student’s ability to select appropriate treatment options based upon diagnostic information.
