The purpose of this course is to review different isotope systems that are applicable to solving geological problems and understanding of geochronological techniques applicable to materials ranging in age from <1 ka to > 4.5 Ga, as well as the application of isotopic data to better define the chemical dynamics of Earth’s systems. Introduction to the principles and applications of isotope geochemistry, and briefly summarize the analytical techniques used in the field. Isotope classification, radioactive decay, radiogenic isotopes, and age dating methods, stable and unstable isotopes.
