The course discusses the basic principles of organic chemistry in terms of structure, chemical bonding and physical properties of organic compounds. It also focuses on classification of organic compounds according to their functional groups. It also introduces students to the structure, nomenclature, synthesis and reactions of hydrocarbons, alkyl halides and aromatic compounds in addition to their importance in our daily life and uses in various applications. Moreover, the course discusses the basic principles of stereochemistry.
