This course mainly focuses on the fundamentals and concepts of environmental geology with emphasis on different types of geohazards especially those affect local environments. It is designed to give an overview of environmental regulations and to explain and elaborate on natural geohazards mechanism and consequences such as landslides, soil pollution, desertification and sand dune movement, climate change, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, floods, and tsunami, environmental consequences of energy and mineral resource utilization, mining, and the environment effects on human health and related environmental impacts. This course essentially provides students with basic theoretical aspects and applications of environmental geology so thus student’s awareness of the role of science in environmental policy is improved. Case studies around the world with a review of examples of geological hazards in the KSA.
