The English Language Skills (2) (ENGL 102) course is a skill-based course which focuses on developing the general and academic language skills of the target students. The course builds on what the students have acquired in the ENGL101course. It continues to develop the students’ language skills and competencies by exposing them to a variety of general and academic contexts at the pre-intermediate language level. In addition, the course develops the students' abilities in the language knowledge area by providing them with a wide range of vocabulary and grammatical structures. Moreover, the course develops the learners' cognitive skills such as analyzing, criticizing, synthesizing, and evaluating which are needed by the students at the university stage.
