Course General Description

This course focuses on different pharmaceutical dosage forms
including solid, semisolid which also discusses design and quality
control testing of these dosage forms. It also discusses tablet
manufacturing, tablet coating, modified release tablets, hard and
soft gelatin capsules manufacture, aerosol principle and filling
processes and preparations of all types of semisolids. The course
provides an understanding of transdermal drug delivery systems
and some drug delivery approaches such as iontophoresis,
phonophoresis and microneedles. In addition, the course discusses
design and quality control testing of various dosage forms and
effects of excipients and additives such as surfactants, preservatives
and buffers on their preparation and drug delivery properties. This
course provides an understanding of the different types of novel
drug delivery systems such as dry powder inhalation, implants,
intra-vaginal.
