English Language II is a pre-intermediate general English course that builds on what students achieved in English Language I. It comprises comprehensive work on grammar and writing, along with an interest in particular study skills pertaining to writing. The course covers key grammar points (including but not limited to verb tenses and forms, state and action verbs, articles, relative pronouns, modal auxiliaries, comparatives and superlatives, expressions of quantity, conditional sentences, passive constructions, phrasal verbs…) and actively involves learners in developing their knowledge of grammar and in working out the rules for themselves. The course also aims to develop the students' writing skills. It introduces students to different genres of writing, with models for different writing tasks and practice at sentence, paragraph and text levels. It also instills in students’ rigor in checking their own writing. Planning and writing effective extended business reports is a significant component of the course, as well.
