This course covers the fundamentals of Islamic finance and explores its instruments, tools, systems and structures. Topics include foundations and features of Islamic Finance; risk efficiency; types of Islamic financing products (models). It goes on to analyze and to assess Islamic Banking Operations and Instruments; Sukuk markets; Takaful and the main challenges that face Islamic financial industry. Islamic financial infrastructure will be explored. A number of case studies will be examined to explain the applicability of Islamic financing concepts and tools.

This course provide general knowledge and skills such as critical and reflective thinking skills, analytic and problem-solving skills, quantitative analysis and information technology skills, communication and interpersonal skills, ethical and social responsibility, global, cultural diversity, and legal issues. These knowledge and skills are integral part of the assigned readings, problems, and projects throughout the course
