The course is designed to provide the student with the fundamental background in medical ethics and basic concepts of optimal patient care, including consideration for the physical and psychological needs of the patient and family. The historical and philosophical bases of ethics, as well as the elements of ethical behavior, and medico-legal aspect in radiology are discussed. Routine and emergency patient care procedures and infection control are described. The role of the radiologic technology specialist (radiographer) in patient education is identified.
