Preparing qualified teachers and specialists to work in the field of special education, capable of contributing effectively in the educational process of individuals with disabilities, through well-designed systematic scientific instructions that offers the most updated academic, research and training programs to meet the actual needs of the local market and the requirements of society.

About the Department:

The Special Education Department at Taibah University was established on 18/5/1426 AH based on the decision of the Higher Education Council No. 13/3/1426, which approved the academic restructuring of Taibah University, and was crowned with the approval of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Chairman of the Higher Education Council.

Goals:

1.    Provide male and female students with the scientific and practical skills and experiences that contribute to preparing teachers and specialists in educating, supporting, rehabilitating, and providing services for individuals with disabilities.
2.    Providing opportunities and pathways for transitional training aimed at creating new field of employment that can accommodate a large percentage of Saudi university graduates, and creating job opportunities needed by the local market.
3.    Developing postgraduate programs in the field of special education that meet the needs of society in serving and rehabilitating individuals with disabilities.
4.    enhancing the professional and academic level of workers in the special education field and equip them with contemporary scientific and educational trends through training courses and workshops offered by the department.
5.    Providing educational and scientific consultations, and collaboration with academic institutions concerned about individuals with disabilities.
6.    Conducting, supporting, and encouraging research and studies in the field of special education to improve and develop methods of teaching, educating, and rehabilitating individuals with disabilities. 
7.    Organizing seminars, conferences, and scientific forums on issues related to special education to promote community and family awareness.
8.    Developing standardized tools and assessments adapted to the Saudi environment that contribute to screening, evaluation, and diagnosis.
9.    Designing educational curricula, programs, and educational plans that align with the abilities, skills, and potential of individuals with disabilities. 
10.    Establishing scientific associations and specialized centers that contribute to empowering and training individuals with disabilities.
