Department of Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering was the first department established in the College of Engineering Yanbu in 2008. The mechanical engineering specialization is one of the oldest and most important engineering disciplines and the backbone of development and growth of humans in all aspects of life. All products used by humans, are designed and analysed by the various mechanical engineering sciences, which include the science of dynamics, fluids, refrigeration & air conditioning , materials science, heat transfer, mechanical design, automatic control, mechanics of material, traditional and advanced computer manufacturing methods and processes, engineering economics and energy production, preventive and diagnostic maintenance of mechanism and machines. The length of study in the Mechanical Engineering degree is four years after the preparatory year.

During the stay of the students at the department, they are trained to acquire all the necessary and competitive skills an engineer needs, covering all aspects, especially focussing on the technical knowledge and skills. Students are prepared to be capable to work in the various mechanical engineering fields in specialized companies and factories.

Also, during the course of the study, the students are trained and motivated to get into the private sector through the incorporation of the concepts of leadership and entrepreneurship. Professional training programme in companies and industries helps students prepared for the field.

Specialized training workshops are organised regularly in the college to enhance their skills and refine their talents, equip them with extra skills which will help them confidently face field life. These workshops are aimed at preparing them for industry.

Students in mechanical engineering should be trained to successfully take various potential positions in diverse industries such as aerospace, aviation, cars, trains, military production, cooling and air conditioning, power plants, modern factories with diverse manufacturing and assembly lines.
