The College of Pharmacy at Taibah University was established under royal approval with reference number 5640/M B on 22/04/1426H. The establishment was officially endorsed by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques following the decisions made by the Higher Education Council in its 46th session, which included approving the creation of the college's departments. This approval paved the way for the development of a comprehensive academic structure within the college to meet the evolving needs of the pharmaceutical field.
The college offers a diverse range of academic programs through its four departments. These are the Department of Pharmacognosy and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, the Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Industries, and the Department of Pharmacy Practice. Each department plays a significant role in delivering courses that focus on enhancing both the scientific knowledge and professional skills of students. This holistic approach ensures that graduates are well-prepared to contribute to advancements in healthcare and the pharmaceutical industry, both locally and globally.
Since its inception, the college has experienced steady growth, beginning with the admission of 22 male students in the academic year 1429/1430H. In the following academic year, 1431/1432H, the college opened its doors to female students, admitting 26 female students. The first cohort of graduates who earned a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences graduated in 1433/1434H. Additionally, the college offers a Doctor of Pharmacy program, which spans six years, with clinical training beginning in the fifth year. The program prepares students for effective professional practice through a comprehensive training curriculum, including both introductory and advanced pharmacy practice experiences.
The college offers its graduates broad opportunities in the job market through academic programs that prepare them for various roles in both public and private sectors, enable them to pursue higher studies, and empower them to contribute effectively to national development.
