The College of Pharmacy at Taibah University organized an orientation meeting for new male and female students for the 1448 AH academic year, as part of the College’s efforts to prepare students for university life and familiarize them with the academic environment, services, and activities available to them. The meeting aimed to support students throughout their educational journey and promote their effective integration into university life.
The meeting began with welcoming and guiding remarks from the College’s leadership, highlighting the importance of the university stage in developing students’ personalities and preparing them for their future professional careers. The speakers also introduced the College’s vision, mission, and objectives, as well as the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program, while emphasizing the importance of commitment, academic excellence, and making the most of the educational and research opportunities and resources provided by the College.
The meeting included a comprehensive introduction to the College’s four academic departments, during which the department heads presented the nature of their respective disciplines and the educational, research, and applied fields offered by the College. They also highlighted the departments’ role in preparing qualified pharmacy professionals in accordance with modern scientific and professional standards.
The program also featured an introductory session on the “Pharmaceutical Elixir” Student Activities Unit, highlighting its role in identifying and developing students’ talents and strengthening their personal and leadership skills, communication and teamwork abilities, as well as encouraging their participation in awareness, community, cultural, and extracurricular activities.
The orientation program further included an interactive tour of the College’s facilities and laboratories, during which new students visited classrooms, laboratories, specialized practical facilities, and the central library. Students were introduced to the modern equipment used in education, training, and scientific research, in addition to professional safety procedures and approved preventive protocols applicable within the laboratories.
As part of the academic guidance activities, an orientation session was conducted on the Study and Examination Regulations and Academic Advising Services. The session provided explanations of regulations related to attendance and absence, withdrawal and excused absence, course registration, add/drop procedures, and students’ rights and responsibilities. It also introduced students to the University’s electronic services and platforms and explained how to make effective use of them.
The orientation meeting received highly positive engagement from the new students. An electronic satisfaction survey was conducted, with 85 male and female students participating. The results demonstrated exceptionally high satisfaction levels: the average rating for the clarity of the orientation meeting’s objectives was 4.93 out of 5, organization of the meeting was 4.85 out of 5, and the usefulness of the information provided was 4.88 out of 5. The overall evaluation of the orientation meeting reached 4.87 out of 5, corresponding to a satisfaction rate of 97.4%.
The College of Pharmacy emphasized that organizing this orientation meeting reflects its commitment to supporting new students, enhancing their academic awareness, facilitating their integration into the university environment, and enabling them to make the most of the educational, research, and student programs and services provided by the College. These efforts contribute to preparing distinguished pharmacy professionals who are capable of making an effective contribution to the development of the healthcare sector.
