What is the “Jahiziyah” Test?
The “Jahiziyah” Test is a national assessment organized by the Education and Training Evaluation Commission (ETEC). It is administered to students in the final year of the targeted academic majors.
The Jahiziyah Program establishes a disciplinary framework that represents the minimum knowledge, skills, and values that every graduate is expected to possess. This framework is developed collaboratively by academic teams from universities, along with representatives from national entities and relevant private sector industries, in order to build standardized graduate assessments based on this framework.
The goal of the Jahiziyah Program is to measure the outcomes of academic programs and contribute to their improvement. It also aims to enhance graduates’ acquisition of the required knowledge, skills, and values (learning outcomes) in each discipline, and to increase their readiness to enter the labor market by aligning program outcomes with labor market requirements. This contributes to reducing unemployment rates and achieving one of the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
The Commission has followed a specific methodology in developing the disciplinary standards, which includes reviewing distinguished international experiences, identifying national labor market needs, and consulting employers and academic experts.
The disciplinary standards and learning outcomes document includes the minimum set of knowledge units required for each specialization. This confirms that the document represents the minimum expected outcomes in each field, thereby ensuring improved educational outcomes while also allowing academic institutions the opportunity to innovate and excel in the content of their programs and curricula.
