The College of Applied Medical Sciences in Yanbu Governorate, under the supervision of faculty members and with the participation of students from the Nursing Department, participated in World Diabetes Day at the Outpatient Clinics Building of Yanbu General Hospital, in collaboration with the Madinah Health Cluster represented by Yanbu General Hospital, as part of the college’s ongoing efforts in community service and health awareness.
The initiative aimed to increase community awareness about the causes, types, and symptoms of diabetes, correct misconceptions about the disease, and promote a culture of prevention and healthy lifestyle practices through proper nutrition and physical activity. The event also focused on early detection of undiagnosed diabetes cases through screenings, guiding diagnosed individuals to appropriate medical follow-up, and reducing risk factors associated with diabetes and its complications. Additionally, participants were trained on blood sugar management, the proper use of medications and insulin, and self-monitoring of blood glucose, enhancing their capacity to manage their health effectively.
This initiative reflects the college’s commitment to serving the community and promoting health awareness, highlighting its educational and outreach mission and its role in fostering a healthier society.
