Overview

A Council of Ministers Resolution No. (104), dated 3/4/1430 AH, was issued to transform the National Committee for the Promotion of Mental Health into a National Center for the Promotion of Mental Health, chaired by His Excellency the Minister of Health and comprising representatives from thirteen ministries and governmental entities, including the Ministries of Interior, Justice, Education, and others. The Center subsequently recommended the establishment of mental health promotion groups in all Saudi universities, with the aim of enhancing mental health within universities first, and subsequently within the local community.

 

Tasks

  • Developing a Balanced Personality for University Students

    • Ensuring the availability of appropriate enrichment programs for university students.

    • Personality Development Programs.

    • Promoting mental health concepts among students, faculty, and staff.

    • Organization of Events and Activities within the University.

  • Measuring the level of awareness of students and staff regarding mental health.

    • Providing Mental Health First Aid training courses.

    • Supervision of Mental Health Promotion and Awareness Activities

  • Student Care Center

    • Establishing counseling and psychological support centers.

    • Establishing mental health clinics, subject to available resources.

    • Developing a comprehensive guide for counseling centers, including their needs, operational procedures, and quality standards to ensure high-quality outcomes.

  • Community Mental Health Initiatives

    • Selecting key or relevant mental health issues affecting the local community.

    • Developing intervention plans under the supervision of specialists.

    • Encouraging student participation through student clubs and volunteer programs.

  • Participation in Scientific and Research Activities in the Field of Mental Health

    • Prioritizing mental health topics within the university’s research agenda.

    • Contributing to research methodology development and organizing specialized conferences and workshops.

  • Addressing Risk Factors within the University Environment

    • Identifying risk factors.

    • Monitoring vulnerable groups and proposing early intervention and detection programs to support these populations.

  • Supervision of All Mental Health Services Provided by the University
