Overview

The Secretariat of the Scientific Council at Taibah University serves as the administrative and organizational body supporting the Council’s work. It coordinates Council activities, organizes meetings, and follows up on the implementation of its decisions to ensure efficient and smooth operations. The Secretariat also enhances coordination between the Council and relevant university entities, supporting the Council’s role in overseeing and advancing academic and research affairs in alignment with the University’s vision and strategic objectives.

Objectives

  •  Develop regulations, systems, and executive rules to contribute to advancing rigorous scientific research, enhancing its quality and quantity, and promoting a culture of excellence in scientific performance.

  • Ensure justice, equality, clarity, and transparency in all operations of the Scientific Council.

  •  Improve internal efficiency and practice the highest levels of quality in all council activities.

  •  Utilize effective technological systems to facilitate and expedite the council's processes while ensuring high accuracy in execution.

  •  Protect faculty members' rights concerning the activities of the Scientific Council.

  • Establish databases related to the work of the Scientific Council.

Tasks

According to Article Twenty-Eight of the Higher Education and Universities Council Regulations, the responsibilities of the Scientific Council at the university include the following:

  • Recommending the appointment of faculty members at the university.
  •  Deciding on faculty promotions in accordance with the organizational rules and regulations.
  • Encouraging scientific research, authorship, translation, and publication.
  •  Establishing rules to promote the preparation of scientific research.
  • Recommending the establishment of research centers.
  • Developing a general plan for research centers and coordinating among them.
  • Organizing relations with research centers outside the university.
  • Determining incentives and rewards for outstanding and evaluated scientific work, as well as for publication.
  • Approving the publication of research papers, theses, and scientific works deemed suitable for publication.
  • Recommending the issuance of scientific journals.
  • Recommending the establishment of scientific societies.
  •  Approving the academic books and theses referred to it that require review.
  • Evaluating academic qualifications submitted by Saudi faculty members.
  •  Reviewing matters referred to it by the University Council.
