The course will introduce the students to the basics of heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning
systems and design, classifications and selection of HVAC systems and equipment like chillers,
heat exchangers, pumps and fans and piping systems. Basic air conditioning processes, humid air
properties and relations, psychrometric and air-conditioning processes. Principles of human
thermal comfort and indoor air quality (IAQ), heating and cooling load calculations, air
distribution system and duct design, air flow transmission and diffusion within conditioned
space. HVAC software and standards.
