This course aims to introduce students to the main concepts of Biodiversity including: the different levels of biodiversity from gene to species, estimate the global species numbers, hyper-diversity & hotspots, the value of biodiversity, the main threats of biodiversity on global level, the international laws & agreements, the IUCN Red Data List, the episodes of species extinction and the impact of climate change on biodiversity. Finally, the students will discuss the mains threats of biodiversity and the main efforts of KSA for biodiversity conservation.
