College College of Pharmacy
Program Doctor of Pharmacy
Course Title Clinical Biochemistry I
Course Code PHT 231
Department Pharmacology and Toxicology
Course General Description
This unit focuses on Biochemical processes such as oxidative
phosphorylation and Carbohydrates-, lipid- and protein
metabolism. It covers the principles governing their anabolism and
catabolism including bioenergetics, compartmentalization, and the
mechanisms controlling different pathways. The course also sheds
light on the medical relevance of defects in such metabolic
pathways. This course is supported by practical studies of modern
methodology used for determination of certain important blood
parameters such as glucose, liver and renal functions and lipid
profile
