Design, synthesis, and purification (by extraction, distillation, and crystallization) of organic compounds. Understanding a variety of modern spectral data (IR, NMR, UV, and Mass) and interpret spectra and use instrumentation. Encourage the ability of students for independent thinking and reasonable interpretation of scientific data to reach sound conclusion about their results.
