The course provides students with an advanced knowledge on structural geology. It provides an in depth account on macro- and microscale structural features and attribute them to tectonic activities. In addition to that it also covers the quantitative analysis of stress and strain, including the wide spectrum of deformation complexities encountered in contractional, extensional and strike-slip tectonic regimes at various scales. The course also provide the students with knowledge on superimposed structural features, ductile shear zones, salt tectonics and regional tectonic regimes as well as orogenic processes.
