This course addresses the basic concepts of descriptive statistics as well as inferential statistics using basics of probability theory. Namely the following topics will be discussed: data types and data sources, presenting data in charts and tables, measures of location and variability, basic concept of probabilities, random variables and probability distributions, mathematical expectation, some discrete and continuous distributions, sampling distributions, confidence intervals, simple linear regression, and correlation. The course contains practical sessions using a statistical software such as SPSS, Minitab, and R
