Overview

The Administration of Scientific Publishing and Scientific Societies, under the University Vice Presidency for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, is a supervisory and executive department responsible for formulating policies, procedures, and regulations related to scientific publishing and scientific societies. It oversees and supports scientific publishing in accordance with the Scientific Publishing and Innovation Regulations of Saudi universities.

The administration implements the decisions of the Scientific Council and reviews matters referred to it concerning scientific publishing, scientific societies, and academic journals. It provides administrative support in establishing scientific societies in compliance with the governing regulations for scientific societies in Saudi universities. Additionally, it supervises and supports these societies to ensure they achieve their objectives.

Furthermore, the department supports academic journals by providing administrative assistance and setting general policies in collaboration with the journals' editors-in-chief.

The Administration of Scientific Publishing and Scientific Societies is directly linked to the Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research. It works on establishing sustainable procedures, policies, and regulations that assist authors in publishing their scientific works and enriching university libraries for students and researchers. The department also provides administrative consultancy to scientific societies, facilitates their operations, and supports their members and affiliates, contributing to the development and enhancement of their scientific outputs.

  • Strengthen Collaborative Relationships between the university and publishers at both national and international levels.
  • Establish a Database for published works of university faculty members.
  • Publish Specialized Peer-Reviewed Journals that focus on high-quality scientific research.
  • Support and Sustain Scientific Societies to help them achieve their objectives in enriching their respective fields and fostering a stimulating research environment.
  • Develop Platforms to support the management of the universities' academic journals and societies, enhancing communication and effective engagement.
  • Improve University Performance and Outputs in national and international exhibitions by strengthening scientific publishing and scientific societies.
  • Propose Strategies and Initiatives to create a stimulating and sustainable environment for scientific research and publishing.

Responsibilities

  • Policy and Regulation Development: Formulate and update policies governing scientific publishing and societies.
  • Implementation of Scientific Council Decisions: Oversee the execution of decisions related to publishing and societies. Enhance Digital Infrastructure by developing a digital system to manage scientific publishing, societies, and journals.
  • Propose Policies, Procedures, and Regulations to achieve the administration's objectives.
  • Review and Support Book and Manuscript Proposals submitted by faculty members, offering administrative assistance.
  • Oversee Publishing and Printing Procedures in compliance with the university's approved publishing guidelines.
  • Establish Standardised Forms to organize the work of the department, researchers, and scientific society members.
  • Develop Guidelines for the Election Process of the Scientific Society board of directors.
  • Set Best Practices and Policies to foster a collaborative and interdisciplinary research community.
  • Supervise the Establishment of Scientific Societies, including their founding committees and board elections.
  • Collect Annual Reports on the activities of scientific societies, journals, and publishing initiatives, evaluating their performance.
  • Submit an Annual Performance Report, including improvement proposals for scientific societies, journals, and publishing activities.
  • Facilitate Knowledge Exchange among scientific societies, ensuring effective collaboration.
  • Engage with External Institutions to advance scientific publishing and society development.
  • Propose Strategies to broaden the impact of the university's research output, enhance its academic reputation, and contribute to the knowledge economy.
  • Review and Address Matters Referred by the Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research.
