Department of Preventive Dental Sciences

Vision

We aspire to be an active department in the college and the community, a center for providing therapeutic and preventive services in the specialization of pediatric dentistry, orthodontics, periodontics and dental public health, and a center for scientific research and development. We also contribute to spreading social and cultural awareness of preventive concepts for oral and dental health care.

 

Mission

Establishing advanced academic programs for the subjects taught by the department, which will raise the level of our graduate students theoretically and practically, so as to prepare them to work in various sectors after graduation and provide them with the necessary skills for correct diagnosis and treatment.
Disseminating knowledge in preventive dentistry specialties at the post-graduation stage, by holding continuing medical education courses and applied workshops on various topics related to the departments, in cooperation with the Continuing Medical Education Committee at the college.
Encouraging scientific research in the department, by establishing research teams according to the research competencies enjoyed by specialists and faculty members in the department.
 

About the Department:

The department includes four main branches

  • Pediatric Dentistry
  • Orthodontics
  • Periodontics
  • Public Health in Dentistry
     

The department is concerned with teaching and specialized training in pediatric dentistry, orthodontics, periodontics and dental public health. It also contributes to scientific research by supervising student research and publishing faculty research. The department also contributes to providing therapeutic services for adults and children, in addition to contributing to community awareness campaigns on oral and dental health.

  • Working on sending male and female teaching assistants to dental colleges in prestigious and distinguished universities, and specializing in the department's branches to cover the department's needs and raise its efficiency.
  • Working on preparing our male and female graduate students to prepare for postgraduate studies to be accepted in prestigious and distinguished universities, to cover the needs of the labor market.
  • Working on establishing academic (master's) and clinical (fellowship) postgraduate programs, which will provide part of the Saudi society's needs for these specializations
