Vision

• To achieve leadership in scientific research and excellence in preparing specialized professionals in the fields of education, counseling, and psychological guidance, in line with contemporary developments and international standards.
• To qualify national cadres through graduate programs in order to supply educational institutions with their needs for faculty members.
• To promote applied experimental psychological studies in a way that enables the Department to play an active role in serving development and addressing community needs.
• To highlight and consolidate Islamic contributions to the field of psychology through attention to distinguished Arab and Islamic studies and research in this field.

Mission

• To prepare qualified researchers and psychologists in accordance with quality standards.
• To support the graduation of teachers who are aware of learners’ characteristics and the requirements for assessing their knowledge and attitudes, in order to meet the needs of national development and labor market demands.
• To provide psychological, educational, and professional services through the Department’s various programs to enhance the role of professional psychological support.

About the Department:

The Department was established in 1397 AH, and at that time it was incorporated under the Educational and Psychological Departments. In 1399/1400 AH, the Department separated from the other educational departments and became an independent department under the name “Department of Educational Psychology.”
The Department is considered one of the main educational departments in the College, contributing to the educational and psychological preparation of students. Academic study in the Department focuses on the undergraduate level (Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education) and graduate studies, including the Master’s in Psychological and Educational Counseling and the Master’s in Educational Measurement and Evaluation.

Department Objectives:

• To contribute to preparing competent teachers for the primary and secondary education levels (pre-university education).
• To prepare specialized and distinguished professionals in the psychological and educational fields at both academic and research levels, equipped with advanced research skills that enable them to conduct studies contributing to solving societal problems.
• To qualify distinguished professionals in psychological and educational counseling and guidance, enabling the Department to play an active role in serving development and meeting the growing needs of Saudi society in this field.
• To develop the programs offered by the Department of Educational Psychology in accordance with modern international scientific standards.
• To activate the therapeutic and preventive roles of mental health by establishing partnerships with the community, addressing the increasing societal need and aligning with global trends in enhancing and developing this field.
• To highlight and consolidate Islamic contributions to psychology by contributing to scientific publishing and enriching the field with distinguished Arab and Islamic studies and research.
