Department of Physical Therapy

The Department of Physical Therapy was established in 1432 AH as part of a group of new medical programs at the College of Medical Rehabilitation Sciences at Taibah University. The department offers a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy through an academic program spanning four years (136 credit hours), followed by a one-year internship (the internship year) in healthcare facilities. The department aims to prepare highly qualified national professionals to work effectively in various healthcare facilities. The department focuses on teaching students scientific and physical methods that are used to rehabilitate patients and individuals with special needs, particularly following musculoskeletal injuries or surgical procedures, to enhance and restore functional mobility, relieve pain, and treat or prevent physical challenges resulting from various injuries or diseases. The department also teaches ways to improve patients’ quality of life by preventing chronic complications, reducing pain, and speeding up recovery from injuries. The department’s program aligns with the growing labor market needs in the Kingdom, helping to meet the increasing demand for physical therapy specialists. It also supports the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 by empowering national cadres in the healthcare sector to enhance the quality of medical services and contribute to the overall efficiency of the healthcare system.
