About the Department:

The Department of  Pharmacy Practice is interested in finding the safest and most effective ways to use drugs, and developing treatment plans for various diseases according to local and international principles, in addition to studying non-clinical factors that affect the health of patients and healthy people in general.

The Department of Pharmacy Practice is also interested in analyzing local and international health policies that link drug effectiveness to cost to provide optimal pharmaceutical care.

The Department of Pharmacy Practice participates in teaching a large number of subjects in the Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences program and the Doctor of Pharmacy program. The Department of Pharmacy Practice also supervises the professional and clinical training of students in various hospitals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The faculty members in the department work to develop the clinical skills of students through curricula that enable graduates to enter the labor market with confidence and competence.

The Department of Pharmacy Practice works in close cooperation with the public sector hospitals in Madinah and primary health care centers to improve the pharmaceutical care provided to patients and ensure that the health sector in the Kingdom is provided with qualified pharmacists.

  •  In the field of clinical pharmacy, students study:
    • Pathology of different body systems
    •  Methods of analyzing laboratory data and diagnostic results
    • Therapeutics
    •  Pharmacist training in internal and external hospital pharmacies
    •  Field training in therapeutic departments in various hospitals (for students of the Doctor of Pharmacy program)
  •  In the field of hospital pharmacy, students study:
    • The law of practicing the profession of pharmacy and methods of professional communication with patients, their families and the medical team
    •  Pharmacy business management
    • Pharmacy applications and practices in hospitals
    •  Drug information and public health
    •  Home pharmacy care
    •  Pharmaceutical marketing

At the tenth level, distinguished male and female students are selected to study the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) program, which includes four levels of study and summer training:

The tenth level includes:

  • Advanced studies in therapeutics
  •  Evidence-based medicine
  •  Pharmacoeconomics and public health
  •  Total quality assurance

The eleventh - thirteenth levels include:

  • Practical (clinical) training in various departments in hospitals in the city and outside the city to acquire the skills of describing treatment plans and follow-ups.
