This course broadens students’ reading skills and strategies through authentic reading selections and develops students’ various critical thinking skills that support learning and encourage independent thinking. The course also aims to provide students with the structure and tools necessary for building vocabulary. A further objective is for students to learn test-taking techniques to prepare them for typical college exams and standardized tests.

تُعزز هذه المادة مهارات القراءة واستراتيجياتها لدى الطلاب من خلال نصوص قرائية حقيقية، كما تنمّي مهارات التفكير النقدي المتنوعة التي تدعم عملية التعلّم وتشجع التفكير المستقل. وتهدف المادة أيضاً إلى تزويد الطلاب بالهيكلية والأدوات اللازمة لبناء المفردات اللغوية. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، تُعدّ الطلاب بتقنيات أداء الاختبارات استعداداً للامتحانات الجامعية النموذجية والاختبارات المعيارية.
