This course introduces students to the literary, cultural, and social developments shaping contemporary writings. It explores how contemporary literature approaches different social and cultural themes, such as identity, nationality, globalization, immigration, race, gender, human rights, etc... Students will discuss and analyze a variety of forms of literature through a survey of significant poetry, drama, fiction, &/or nonfiction Narrative Non-Fiction writings such as journalism, memoir, graphic novel, autobiography, TV series, video games and new media written after 1945 to understand how the authors use these forms to address and represent contemporary issues.
