This course will provide students with a review of the anatomy and physiology of phonation, aspects of normal voice production, classification of voice disorders and the foundations for perceptual, objective, and instrumental clinical assessment for individuals with voice disorders. It will also provide the foundations of therapeutic tools, methods, and approaches for voice rehabilitation. Additionally, the course deals with aspects of resonance disorders. It examines anatomy and physiology of oral/nasal resonance, velopharyngeal valve, and normal embryology of the velopharynx. It also provides an introduction to different types of resonance disorders assessment and rehabilitative aspects of velopharyngeal incompetence.
