The Department of Orientalism was established in the academic year 1403/1404 AH at the Madinah branch of Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University. It offered programs at both the master's and doctoral levels and continued until it was integrated into Taibah University. The department became part of the College of Arts and Humanities upon its establishment in 1429/1430 AH, with academic studies beginning in 1431/1432 AH.
