The Department of Pediatrics and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology were merged under Administrative Decision No. 230/Q, dated 24-3-1445H as part of the restructuring of the academic departments in the College of Medicine, to operate under its current designation, the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health.
The department integrates education, research, and community service in the fields of Pediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynecology. It focuses on child health from birth through adolescence, with an emphasis on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, in addition to supporting physical, psychological, and social development. The department also gives special attention to women’s health throughout all stages of life, particularly reproductive health.
