The P&T Department is the academic unit specializing in studying the scientific basis of drug action and its effects on the body. The discipline is divided into:
• Pharmacology: The study of a drug's source, composition, mechanisms of action, and therapeutic effects.
• Toxicology: The study of the harmful effects of chemical substances (whether high-dose medications or environmental toxins) and the treatment of poisoning
Our department serves as the theoretical foundation for many pharmaceutical sciences. Our primary role is to equip Pharm.D. students with the in-depth knowledge necessary to comprehend drug mechanisms, prescribing, and clinical monitoring—the foundation of clinical pharmacy practice.
The specialized courses offered by the Department start in the fifth level of the Pharm.D. program's curriculum.

Absolutely. Practical training is essential for cementing concepts. In the labs, students conduct experiments on animal models (such as lab rats) to determine and better understand the effects and mechanisms of various drugs, in addition to applying clinical biochemistry experiments
Our courses provide the fundamental knowledge that empowers pharmacists to make informed clinical decisions. Understanding how a drug works (Pharmacology) and how to manage an overdose (Toxicology) directly guides your clinical practice in the hospital setting.
No, the Department does not currently provide doctoral programs (master’s or Ph.D.). Our entire focus provides the highest quality instruction for the College's undergraduate (Pharm.D.) program
